Flow measurements with a clamp-on sensor

Often input data is required for CFD calculations like the flow through a system. When these data are non-existent or inaccurate, measurements are required.

Omnia has a clamp-on flow meter that allows on-site flow measurement of any fluid to be measured in a pipe or duct
The measurement technique is based on ultrasound sound waves. The sensors are attached to the outside of the pipe, which makes disassembling and shutting down of the system unnecessary. Even lining should net be a problem.

The clamp-on flow meter is used in a SKL-separator (Stenen-Kluiten-Loof scheider). To be able to perform CFD calculations on this device, it was necessary to quantify the flow through the device.

More Sophisticated Techniques

Omnia engineering also has experience with more sophisticated experimental techniques like:

  • Particle Image velocitimetry (PIV)
  • Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA)
  • Constant Temperature Anemometry (CTA)
  • Highspeed cameras (up to 100.000 fps), if necessary in combination with an endoscope.
